Y. H. Kim
J. H. Cho/D. W. Yang
Abstract
Recently, much evidence has accumulated on the association between HLA antigens and various diseases. This study was performed to evaluate the association of HLA phenotypes and acute myelogenous leukemia among Korean. Twenty eight cases of acute myelogenous leukmia and 146 cases of normal healthy adults were tissue-typed with HLA- A, B, C and DR antigens using the Terasaki`s microcytotoxicity kit and method. B39, Bw60, DR9, and DRw12 were most significantly increased. These phenotypes showed the relative risk of 9.15, 3.42, 6.56 and 3.56, respectively, and Cw3 was significantly decreased showing the relative risk of 0.39. Unexplainably, Aw66, A28 and B37 were only shown in leukemic patients. These findings were different from those of Caucasian and Japanese data.
